At kp, we’re on a journey. Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) strategy – kp is me – sets out a mandate for how we will build a diverse workforce and create an inclusive environment. A lot has been achieved since the strategy’s launch back in September 2021, but by working together, I believe we can do more.

The European packaging industry is about to change for good.That’s because of the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which represents the most significant shake-up of European sustainability legislation in a generation. The wide-reaching new laws, introduced with the ultimate aim of reducing packaging waste, will impact most businesses that operate within the EU market in some way, no matter where they are based.

As companies target net-zero carbon emissions , and electrification and decarbonisation plans ramp up, it’s an exciting time to work in sustainability. But what does it take to drive change across a global organisation?

Workplace culture can have a far-reaching impact on employees’ sense of belonging and productivity, which is why employee resource networks are at the heart of many successful organisations. When it comes to race and inclusion, I felt compelled to drive the change I wanted to see within kp.

Alan Richards is Chief Operating Officer and Head of Corporate Sustainability at kp. He sits on the executive leadership team and works hand in hand with subject matter experts across the business to push the organisation to be more sustainable in every sense of the word.

Recycle Week 2024, running from 14th to 20th October throughout the UK, puts the spotlight on recycling.

Organised by national environmental action initiative WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), Recycle Week is designed to celebrate and promote the benefits of recycling, and create opportunities for individuals and businesses to implement positive changes that help protect our planet’s finite resources.
