A Rewarding Career at kp

I’ve always been passionate about addressing environmental and social challenges. I believe that businesses have a responsibility to operate in a way to maximise their positive contributions to the planet while minimising any negative impacts on the planet and society.

I enjoy coming to work as what I do aligns with my values and allows me to make a tangible impact that is creating a more sustainable future.

I studied Agricultural Technical Engineering and specialised in the food industries, a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering and a MSc in Environmental Water Management from Cranfield University. I went on to hold various sustainability roles. For me, working in this field was a must as it married my passions with a way to drive positive action.

I joined kp just over 5 years ago. Since then, I have really enjoyed my career journey and was recently promoted to Group Sustainability Director. This role sees me lead meaningful initiatives that drive positive change within kp and our communities, whilst also collaborating with organisations throughout our value chain. I enjoy coming to work as what I do aligns with my values and allows me to make a tangible impact that is creating a more sustainable future.

Championing International Women’s Day

Each year when International Women’s Day comes around, I take a moment to think about those who’ve supported me to get to where I am today. Family had a big role to play, and I've always looked up to the women in my family. They taught me to chase my dreams (as no one else was going to do it for me!). They also told me to push hard and not give in and reminded me there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

'Talking more broadly, whilst progress has been made in terms of equity in the workplace, there is still a lot to do. We all must #InspireInclusion on a daily basis and I think mentoring can support here, and I believe this mentoring can extend beyond structured initiatives. Engaging with peers in the industry through conferences and working groups provides opportunities to align on common challenges and explore collaborative solutions. So, on IWD2024 I’d like to thank those who’ve shared their time with me, and I’ll certainly pay it forward to support others seeking to pursue or further their career in sustainability.

I’ve found that accepting challenges can lead to future success and personal growth. So here is a reminder to be confident and to embrace new challenges fearlessly! Alongside this, it is important to prioritise self-care and mental well-being. It's easy to get caught up in work and life, but taking care of yourself emotionally, physically, and mentally is crucial for long-term happiness and success.
