Kp and me? We go way back! 30 years ago - I was a young Chemical Engineer, focused on my thesis on catalysis for Saragossa University. While I was working in an innovation centre in Madrid, I was offered a project so attractive that it made me leave my research, pack my bags and head for Pravia.
That project was a huge opportunity. I may have been brought in as “Technical Manager” but in reality I was responsible for everything: managing the factory build, buying the equipment and hiring people.

I grew that project into the site it is today: an innovation centre with a global team of 35 designers and engineers, focused on developing new products, materials and tooling.
What’s fun about my role?
I love to learn about new technologies and products. The best thing about working in innovation is that there are constantly new developments to keep abreast of. The technical part of my role is what I enjoy the most; I’ve worked as a Technical Manager for years.

It’s also great working in a global role - I serve America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and I love working with customers all over the world to help find innovative solutions to their business problems.

We are seen by the industry as global market leaders. Why? Because of our depth of experience and expertise.

Innovation = sustainability
Speaking of innovation - it now mainly revolves around recycling and sustainability. I have a significant role in developing our portfolio to ensure it’s fully aligned with the requirements of the European strategy for plastics in 2030. That means that everything has to be completely recyclable by then. Innovation is very much at the heart of this work as we have to find new ways to meet these requirements.

Personal and professional

One of the greatest challenges I’ve faced has been growing my family while progressing in my career. However, the support from kp throughout meant I never had to choose between personal and professional progression.

It can be hard for women in some organisations to excel, but with the support and assurance from kp leadership - I’ve been able to grow at the right pace.
